SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Online Organizer will be responsible for developing and implementing online strategy for Energy Action Coalition and our campaigns.  Energy Action utilizes strong online presence through our campaign websites, off site outreach and wholesale email and sms communications to engage tens of thousands of young people in the youth climate movement.  We work collaboratively with our 46 coalition partners to engage hundreds of local groups in our campaigns and our online tools and communications are play a key role in connecting our broad network of supporters.  The online organizer will work closely with other staff as a member of our Communications Team and will report to our Digital Organizer.

ABOUT ENERGY ACTION COALITION
Founded in June 2004 by youth climate leaders, the Energy Action Coalition unites a diversity of organizations in an alliance that supports and strengthens the student and youth clean energy movement in North America. The 35 active and 14 supporting partners of Energy Action Coalition work together to leverage our collective power and create change for a clean, efficient, just and renewable energy future. The work of Energy Action is focused on four strategic areas: campuses, communities, corporate practices, and politics.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

 

- Help to develop website design and branding for our campaigns

- Maintain standards compliant websites using the Drupal CMS

- Promote our campaigns through social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and YouTube

- Edit and post website content

- Manage our database of supporters in the Democracy in Action CRM

- Support communications to our base of support through mass email and text messaging


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Good interpersonal and communication skills

- Experience building websites in Drupal

- Knowledge of CSS and HTML

- Solid Graphic design skills.

- Experience with best practices in mass email

- Experience with best practices in social network site outreach and engagement

- Knowledge of text messaging campaign best practices

- Experience with Democracy in Action CRM a plus

- Copy editing and copy writing experience a plus
