Mission: Campus Progress, a project of the Center for American Progress,works to strengthen progressive voices on college and university campuses nationwide; counter the growing influence of right-wing groups on campus; and empower new generations of progressive leaders. While the media perceives U.S. campuses as bastions of liberalism, the right wing has spent 30 years organizing to gain the upper hand. Conservative groups spend over $35 million every year pushing their agenda on campuses through speaking programs, funding for student publications, and leadership training, plus tens of millions more for academic programs. It�s time for progressive students to start winning the battle of ideas. Campus Progress includes: * CampusProgress.org, a web publication offering hard-hitting journalism, analysis, and multimedia on issues of the greatest concern to campuses; giving students the opportunity to be published nationally; and building a community of progressive students interested in issues and ideas. Learn how you can contribute. * Funding, training, and mentoring to a growing number of campus progressive publications. Grants and assistance help students promote their publications, expand print runs, sponsor speaking events, and network their web sites with other campus publications and CampusProgress.org. Learn more about joining our network of publications. * A campus speakers bureau that sends prominent speakers to colleges and universities for speeches, debates, symposia, film showings, etc. * Action grants, support, advice and materials to students engaged in public education / advocacy campaigns on national, local, and campus issues. * Conferences and training programs for students, which began with our first Campus Progress National Student Conference, held on July 13, 2005, in Washington DC, and a second day of smaller training sessions for student journalists and activists. * A student advisory board, composed from students from across the country, launched in October 2005. * A network of student representatives on individual campuses, launched in October 2005. * Innovative national issue campaigns on a range of issues, including student debt, academic freedom, global warming, and judicial nominations.
